  • 1.  Citation for inclusion of only probable items and services in LCP

    Posted 29 days ago

    Hi all,

I'm dusting off this question Katherine Dunlap posed back in 2017.  I believe we all adopt the practice that only services that have been deemed to be "probable" are included in and costed in the life care plan.  However, I cannot find a clear citation in any of our relevant literature.  I'm very clear on what the definitions of "probable" and "potential" are in the legal sense.  Can anyone point me to a reference for LCP practice?

    Many thanks.

Well, it's a bit shocking when I see someone bring up a question I asked some 8 years ago, Mike! :) That said, this is something that really isn't resolved for me.  My recollection is that there are consensus statements from past summits indicating we include items that are "more likely than not".  That said, I see providers use all kinds of terms that, imho, muddy the water - likely, probably, possible, potential, etc.

I look forward to hearing what the collective has to offer.  And I now know for sure I need to be careful how I say things around here.  :)

    Katherine

    Delineating future care recommendations
This step involves the identification of services and products that will be needed with appropriate foundation or rationale.
