LCP Section Position Descriptions

All members:

  • Support the policy and procedures adopted by the IARP Board and IALCP Section
  • Promotes interest and active participation of the membership
  • Provides representation on the following IARP committees as assigned: Finance, Education, Membership/Mentoring
  • Supports the goals of the Strategic Plan, representing each goal section as assigned such as liaison to the Journal, Fellow Program, Research, etc.
  • Participates in the update and revision of the Strategic Plan annually and as needed
  • The Board members shall determine the assignment of roles to each member annually with input from the membership as necessary.

SECTION CHAIRPERSON
Term: The Chair-Elect becomes Chair, then Past-Chair (3- year term of office). Duties:

  • Lead monthly meetings of the Section Board
  • Establish agendas for meetings of the Board
  • Facilitate all activities of the Section
  • Assume other duties as assigned
  • Appoints committee and task force members with agreement of the board monitors progress

CHAIRPERSON –ELECT
Term: The Chair-Elect becomes Chair, then Past-Chair (3- year term of office).
Duties:

  • Assist the section chair in all areas of administration of the section in preparation for assuming leadership of the section
  • Perform duties of the chair in his/her absence
  • Record accurate minutes of section board proceedings and provide for review, discussion and verification by the board, unless otherwise assigned.

PAST CHAIRPERSON
Term: The Chair-Elect becomes Chair, then Past-Chair (3- year term of office).
Duties:

  • Assist the section chair as needed and directed
  • Serve as a consultant and advisor to the chair
  • Coordinate the nomination process for the annual election

SECTION REPRESENTATIVE TO IARP BOARD OF DIRECTORS / Term: 2 years
Duties:

  • Voting member of the IARP Board of Directors
  • Attends meetings of the IARP Board and participate in accordance with IARP By-Laws and Policies and Procedures
  • Communicate section goals and activities to the board to assure the needs of the section are reflected
  • Communicate activities and directives of the IARP Board of Directors to the section

DIRECTORS AT LARGE (3) / Term: 2 years staggered
Duties:

  • Participate in the Life Care Planning IALCP Section Board meetings and be responsible for duties as assigned.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE (1 or more) / Term: 1 year, enrolled in a graduate or certification program at the time of appointment. Appointed, non-voting position.
Duties:

  • Communicate concerns and needs of the students to the board
  • Participate in committee work as assigned
