Hello everyone,
I thought this discussion group would be interested to know that I am teaching a 2 day course in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) for Life Care Planners who are interested in strengthening their clinical skills and life care planning methodology. The dates are May 13-14. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (Canada), where I have taught Life Care Planning in the Master of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Program, Faculty of Medicine, for over 10 years. I have also published on numerous occasions in the peer reviewed literature, including the Journal of Life Care Planning.
Some of the topics covered during my course include: effectively assessing housekeeping capacity and quantifying home support services; functional tests to administer as part of your assessments; understanding the aging-related research and how this affects age cut off for services; respectfully and effectively critiquing other LCPs; and the Canadian legal system and precedent setting judgments that affect our practice.
If you are interested, more information is available at functionaloutcomes.com (see Calgary 2016 link). Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.
