    Hello Barbara,
    There is a lot of information on Guillain Barr Syndrome complications on the Vaccine Injury Compensation website. 
    The consequences of the syndrome can range from transient muscle weakness to complete paralysis and death. Some people achieve complete recovery, while others remain permanently disabled. I think that the vocational impact/ work life expectancy depends on the progression and resolution of the disease process which appears to be individualized. Perhaps some of our life care planner colleagues who have worked with Guillain Barr affected clients can shed more light on the issue. By the way, the majority of cases I have read about were traced to the flu vaccination, although there are other causes. The link to the site is below:
