    Good Morning,
Hope everyone is staying warm and safe in this crazy weather.  Would love to know if any of you are aware of any publications, research, articles, etc. regarding work life expectancy and reduction of work hours as it relates to SCI cases.  Please respond or private message me at julie@sawyerconsulting.com.  Thanks  Julie

These are a little dated but still relevant.

There are a number of resources from the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center.

    Life expectancy: https://www.nscisc.uab.edu/life-expectancy.aspx

Dr. David Strauss et. al has researched Life Expectancy. See: http://www.lifeexpectancy.org/index.shtml

General Facts link can be found here: https://www.nscisc.uab.edu/reports.aspx

The Model System Spinal Cord Injury Program collects data on Labor Force Particiaption, Quality of Life, etc.  Publications for 2015 can be found at http://search.naric.com/research/rehab/redesign_results_detailed.cfm?search=2&type=advanced&all=&exact=&any=&omit=&fld1=Project_Number&txt1=H133N*&op1=AND&fld2=Title&txt2=&op2=AND&fld3=Title&txt3=&op3=AND&fld4=Title&txt4=&dte1=2015&dte2=2015&available=0&online=0

You can also call any of the Model Systems to get data from them.

And of course consult the treating physician and experts on your case.

Stats are nice to have, but one needs to use specific data to the patient to pass a daubert challenge.

    Julie,

The most reliable information will be from the treating physiatrist or expert working with you on the case.

The treating physician must have a statistical foundation on which to establish his medical opinion.   A specific individual with a spinal cord injury may be better than or worse than the statistical average for his or her cohort group. The treating physician will then provide his or her opinion on whether or not a specific individual will be better off or worse off than the statistical average for his or her cohort group.
