Hello Listmates, I am looking for a resource outside of the the Seattle area to provide a second opinio regarding surgical options for a child with a brachial plexus injury, age 7.

Travel and funding for evaluation is not a limiting factor. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you. Jane Vaccaro, RN, BSN, CCM, CLCP

I think the previous ones are great. I can also recommend a Dr. Nash in Houston. He did an amazing job for a young patient I worked with as her treating hand and occupational therapist. It is nice to see these children so many years later with a fairly functional arm. He did many tendon transfers which were not common and the overall result was impressive. His therapist was also amazing and willing to help in any way from afar (which is critical to the surgery's success if patient is a surgical candidate).

You might research Dr. Julia Terzis to see if she still practices or consults anywhere.  She used to be in Norfolk VA and had pediatric patients coming to her from around the world for brachial plexus  reconstructive surgery.  I am pretty sure she is no longer in Norfolk but may be in the North East.
