  • 1.  Past journal articles and expert references in cerebral palsy secondary to birth trauma

    Posted 08-17-2015 20:53

I researched the articles on cerebral palsy, Journal of LCP and IARP/Journal and the issues came up claimed "43" I did not find one specific to this medical diagnosis. Has anyone else found quality reference and research data on long term outcomes and common treatment modalities?

John, I just looked on EBSCO and Psych Articles and there are some peer reviewed articles on ranging from physical therapy to voice therapy to pulmonary and rhythmic auditory stimulation and more.   Let me know if there is a specific type of treatment you are looking at or call me if you want to explain.  Thanks Scott Whitmer

    Mr. Berg:

We have over 4,300 articles on CP in our FormPro database with over 900 being longitudinal studies.  We can provide you with the research you need, but I need a few specifics: Pediatric or Adult, CP sub-type (there are 8 of them), and more specifics on what kind of outcomes you are looking for, e.g. rhizotomies.  In regard to treatment modalities, are you looking for articles on PT, hippotherapy, etc.?

    John:

There are a few earlier journals with reference to  life care planning in those with CP which may be of interest to you
Journal of Life Care Planning Vol. 4, Number 4 2006 by Laura Deming Bilirubin Encephalopathy/Kernicterus for The Newborn Infant. Implications for Life Care Planning
and Journal of Life Care Planning Vol 4, Numbers 2 &3, 2005 by Carolyn Wiles Higdon, Life care planning issues for pediatric swallowing disorders.

While these articles are a bit dated, you might want to check out  the Pediatric Life Care Planning and Case Management, second Ed. Edited by S. Grisham and L. Deming CRC Press. There are a lot of great information and references on CP secondary to birth trauma.

    Hope that helps. Good luck
