IARP Announces First Fellow Renewals
Last year the Life Care Planning IALCP Section revised the criteria for the FIALCP (Fellow) designation.
According to Gerri Pennachio, chairman of the Fellow oversight task force and a certified life care planner and vocational expert based in Lakeland, Fla., there was need for a change. In explaining the changes, she said, "Several years ago we realized that very few people were applying to become Life Care Planning (LCP) 'Fellows'. The designation had lost its meaning. Several of us found that disappointing and set out to do something about it."
The first renewals under the newly-revised program have now been received and meet the criteria. They have been attested according to IARP executive director Carl Wangman. They are as follows:
Michael Shahnasarian Ph.D., FIALCP
Darlene Carruthers M.Ed., FIALCP
Nancy Mitchell, M.A. FIALCP, OTR/L, ATP, CLCP
Each Fellow will receive a newly-designed plaque signifying achievement and continued recognition by IARP. Their Fellow renewal is for five years through 2019.
