This message has been posted on the LCP list-serve so some of you will receive duplicates and I do apologize. However, I am seeking as much feedback as possible.

For all the years I have been doing this, I have used a single rate, for all services.  I have now been encouraged by several attorneys to increase my hourly rate for depositions and trial testimony.  I have noted that some experts do just that and I would like the input of the collective.

Also, I find myself getting more and more work that requires lengthy travel with multiple days of back to back work.  I am now considering a daily rate for these situations.  Is anyone else doing that?  Please share and if you are doing that, can you also share how you arrived at your daily rate?

Thanks.  And Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I charge a higher rate for deposition etc. I also charge mileage, travel time (1/2 professional rate), and charge for any overnight accommodations, parking fees, photocopies, as well as a per diem rate for meals.

My advice is to have separate fees for different services. I did once share the hotel expense since I opted to stay in a B&B rather than a hotel. You are a professional with expertise which is highly valuable. Your time is very valuable.  Let that be your guide.
