I came across this article re: free veterinarian services for service dogs of veterans...Never considered this, but does anyone else put in vet insurance into a LCP for a service animal?

This not only seems reasonable, but necessary if the service dog is to maximize the functional independence and well-being of the client.  In addition, you may also want to consider such items as replacement harnesses and boarding during service dog training and refresher courses.

I recently put a guide dog from The Seeing Eye (Morristown, NJ) in a plan. The first dog is $150 (includes 1 month training, as well as room and board at their training campus).  The Seeing Eye estimates food and veterinary costs for the dog to be $1500 annually – which I include in the plan.
