  • 1.  LCP citation

    Posted 06-04-2014 14:17
    Good afternoon

Been looking  for a statement in writing in the LCP literature ( Journal articles or books) referencing the LCP principle of including only recommendations for goods or services that arise from the subject disabling condition above and beyond  any  needs associated with pre-existing disabling conditions. ( Example: if the person needed a wheelchair for community mobility related to a pre-existing impairment before the subject injury , and the subject injury would typically result in the need for a wheelchair, the wheelchair would not be appropriate to include in the Life Care Plan)

    Any leads appreciated. Thanks.

    Jack,
you do not need a special research article to back this up.  Damages means as a result of the most recent damage.

    Hi Jack,

Although it does not reference pre-existing conditions specifically, you may find helpful chapter 11, page 308 in Roger Weed and Debra Berens' Life Care Planning and Case Management Handbook, in the chapter titled The Role of the Economist in Life Care Planning.

    Thanks Carla

I was perusing the Handbook yesterday but didn't go to that chapter. Just did. Think I've found what I was looking for in Dr. Everett Dillman's discussion of  "marginal costs" ( page 308 for those following along in your hymnals)

Thanks very much Carla ( and Ron and Bob)
