This message is sent to offer a thank you as well as appreciation to the hard work of many individuals' who have provided resources, guidelines, and standards of practice to our community as a CLCP.  I just had a deposition on a Life Care Plan that I completed.  Due to several circumstances, I knew that I needed to refer to these more than usual. So I decided to analyze them more than I have in the past. The IALCP did a phenomenal job in developing the Standards of Practice which found to be a significant tool for myself as a practitioner. Additionally, The Life Care Planning and Case Management handbook by Roger Weed and Debra Berens offered several other tools, reinforcing the basis for methodologies of research that were utilized as part of my training in Life Care Planning.  For any individuals that have the time to offer to create these resources, I am forever blessed and thankful. It makes me better at what I do. I can't believe that the money or income from these ever equates to what you invest time wise.  I know that it is not an effort of one but rather of many over time and I think that everyone deserves to hear it.
    Thank you.....

    Thoughtful post, Claire

    I couldn't agree more

I too am very thankful for and admire the generosity of so many of our colleagues and leaders in the field of Life Care Planning (and as Billy Crystal said it: Saludos, my dahlings, and you know who you are!)

Your contributions to what we do and who we assist are not acknowledged enough.

    Thank you, good people!

    Claire,
I am glad that you found the documents helpful, as they were intended.
The Standards of Practice committee is nearing completion of the 3rd edition of the SOP for Life Care Planners.
Once it is done, it will be released in draft form for review and comment.
We encourage all life care planners to watch for this opportunity to make sure the new SOP accurately reflect the knowledge, skills, and behaviors expected of competent life care planners.
We believe it is important for all life care planners to take a proactive role in advancing and protecting the field, and ensuring that we produce credible LCP products for our users and the public.
Development of SOP is a key function of professional associations and we take this responsibility seriously.
Thank you for pointing out the value and importance of the SOP.

On behalf of the SOP committee,
    Karen Preston, Chair SOP committee
