Hi Listmates
I am trying to project medical/rehabilitation costs and earning capacity for a child (DOB: 4/7/10) who sustained 18.5% total body surface area thermal contact burns to bilateral upper extremities, bilateral lower extremities, and buttocks (DOI: 9/4/11). Three graft surgeries were performed during the initial hospitalization and he is has had 2 laser procedures (8/12, 8/12) with a third planned for later this week. Continued intervention will likely focus on his left hand and foot. The tip of his (left) index finger was amputated and, due to limited ROM, he is not able to use index finger for pincer grasp; also has limited range of motion in pinkie; extensive scar tissue and webbing on left foot. He is able to run with socks on; sometimes falls with shoes. Can throw/catch a 6" diameter ball. Looks like he may be left hand dominant.
Physician will not provide a long term plan for surgeries.
Has anyone provided case management or completed a LCP for a child (of any age)with a similar pattern of burns?
