CRCC INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC MEMBER POSITION

    ON CRCC'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) is a national organization that certifies individuals as Certified Rehabilitation Counselors (CRCs).  The CRCC Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers who are devoted to the promotion of quality rehabilitation counseling services to persons with disabilities.

CRCC is currently conducting a search for an individual who is interested in a seat on the Board as a public member.  As defined by our accrediting agency and adopted by CRCC, a public member is a person who represents the direct and indirect users of the skills/services of CRCs.  The public member may be a professional, but should not have similar credentials to CRCs.  CRCC recommends but does not require that the public member has at some time been a consumer of a CRC's skills/services or is someone who has a background in public advocacy.

The position is an elected position by the Board and all applications submitted by August 25, 2012 will be considered.  The term of office for the public member position will begin as of July 1, 2013 and will conclude on June 30, 2018.

Members of the Board are responsible for participating in meetings of the Committees to which they are assigned, attending all Board meetings, and responding to all written and oral communications received from the administrative office.  On average, these activities require participation in four or five face-to-face meetings per year requiring a commitment of four days each, including travel time.  In addition to face-to-face meetings, conference calls and communications via email are commonly used in order to conduct business in between face-to-face meetings.  Although the time required is a consideration, Board members typically find that it is more than offset by the benefits derived to include involvement in strategic initiatives that enhance the quality of services provided to individuals with disabilities.

If you are interested in serving as a public member, complete the Candidate Interest Form that is available at www.crccertification.com/publicmember.  Feel free to contact Cindy Chapman if you would like to discuss the duties and time commitment of this position.

Candidate Interest Forms and required documentation must be submitted to Susan Stark at sstark@crccertification.com by August 25, 2012.

Individuals will be notified regarding status as a final candidate by October 1.  Final candidates will be required to participate in a phone interview with a member of the CRCC Nominating Committee.  Elections will take place during the month of November with notifications sent to all candidates by November 30.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to serve.

    Cindy A. Chapman, CAE
