Dear IALCP Section Members;
I would like to introduce myself. I am the new Chair of the IARP/IALCP (International Academy of Life Care Planners) Section and I am excited to begin this year by sharing a few thoughts about where I see our section going over the next year. We are over 500 members strong representing virtually every state, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Australia. If you have been a member for a long time, or have just joined us, we would like to welcome you to our section.
The IARP/IALCP is proud of its history and for remaining an active association for shaping the evolution of Life Care Planning. In the days ahead, it will be imperative that we remain together to address the prevailing issues, identify the areas of concern and bridge any potential gaps, and collaborate to strengthen our organization.
I would like to thank Cloie B. Johnson, Susan Riddick-Grisham, Christine Reid, the 2012 Summit Planning Committee, and all the participants for their hard work and input while in Dallas, Texas. As a result of the IARP/IALCP Summit, in addition to addressing the issues affecting the standards of practice, it was historical and monumental that the leaders of the IARP/IALCP Section, the Foundation for Life Care Planning Research, the International Commission on Health Care Certification, and the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners, were able to meet and start a dialogue amongst the organizations.
As Life Care Planners, it will continue to be important that we show our unity with our collaborative efforts in order to advance the practice of Life Care Planning.
The IALCP Section Board of Directors has been able to complete next year's goals, strategic plan and action steps. This will be soon provided on the IARP website. As IALCP section members, it will be important that you review them and determine how you can become actively involved. Specifically, subcommittees will be developed which will require your participation. We will need your help, ideas, and leadership. It you are interested in volunteering for a committee, please feel free to contact me or any of the Board of Directors by e-mail or telephone. Our contact information is online at http://www.rehabpro.org/sections/ialcp/LCP_Board.
In closing, let's all work together to make this an ongoing organization of respect and a wonderful year.
Sincerely,
Steven Yuhas, M.Ed., CRC, CLCP, CCM, NCC
