I would like to take a minute to commend all of the members of the Summit Planning Committee for their time, dedication, and hard work at pulling this year's Summit together! The news with regards to the addition of the AANLCP is indeed exciting. To have a gathering of all groups dedicated to the field of Life Care Planning will certainly be an important event.
I will be ending my three year term on the Board of the IALCP very soon and wanted to take this opportunity to communicate what a wonderful experience this has been over the past several years. I am a solo-practitioner in life care planning and had never previously held a national board position. This was a great learning experience for me and I must say that I am very thankful for the opportunity and for the chance to meet and work with such a dedicated board. Thank you IARP and thank you fellow IALCP former and present board members!
Life Care Planning is still a relatively new area of specialization and much is still needed in the way of formulating which way we see ourselves going in the future. The future of Life Care Planning is collectively in our own hands. It will take time, energy, creativity and dedication from each one of us - if we want to shape where our futures are going. I believe a collaborative approach is always best, taken from my years in the rehabilitation field. I encourage not only the experienced practitioners in life care planning to attend the Summit, but also the newcomers to attend. Efforts have been made to keep this Summit as a reasonably-priced event, so that most could consider the expense. As a weekend event, limited loss of work time was also considered. Being close to a major airport was meant to improve the ease of getting in and out efficiently and again keeping the expense of transfers to /from the airport at a minimum. This is truly meant to be a working weekend.
I encourage all of my life care planning colleagues to seriously consider participation - at the Summit, on life care planning organization Boards, on life care planning organization committees, in life care planning research efforts, and in life care planning publications. Participate!
Looking forward to seeing old and new friends!
