Candidate: Bob Gisclair

1.) Describe your qualifications for the position.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation counseling. I have been in the field of vocational rehabilitation since 1974 and in private rehabilitation since 1979. I am a Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor in the State of Louisiana. I am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Case Manager, Certified Disability Management Specialist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Life Care Planner, Medicare Set-Aside Consultant Certified, and Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Professional.

I am an active member of IARP and have served on the IALCP board. I have served on the IARP Mentor Committee and hope to do that again in the future. I have served at the request of two governors of our state, on the Board of Examiners, for the Licensed Professional Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors. I served as Ethics Chair of that board and was elected Chairman of the Board in December of 1999. In 2004 and 2005, I was appointed by Governor Kathleen
Blanco to serve on the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council. I am also a past board member of the IARP-Louisiana chapter.

2. What do you hope to accomplish during your term if elected?

I am a tireless volunteer and believe deeply that I need to give back to the profession that has give me so much. I believe I have a lot to share and do so with our young professionals in Louisiana at this time. I would like to work with younger professionals and share some of the experiences that have been so helpful to me over the years. I try to live by the saying that the best gift is one that is given without expectation of return.

3. What is your vision for IARP during your term?

I envision IARP as the absolute leader in the rehabilitation industry, setting trends that others emulate. I believe that we are poised to become the leader in the training of young minds in the rehabilitation industry, giving them all the tools that they need to be successful, all of this found in one association.
