Applications are now open for the 2026 Tom Selman Scholarship

    TOM SELMAN SCHOLARSHIP

Tom Selman played a pivotal role in establishing the foundation of Rehabilitation Counseling in Texas. He was a mentor, leader, and counselor to professionals devoted to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. Tom embodied the integrity of both the profession and the IARP Texas Chapter, representing them with dedication and honor. His thoughtful yet direct communication style empowered and inspired students entering the field, instilling in them a deep sense of purpose. His vast knowledge of the rehabilitation industry, coupled with his advocacy and collaboration with major employers, opened doors for greater employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Though widely respected as a Vice President, professor, trusted friend, and community leader, Tom remained humble, never seeking recognition for his many accomplishments. True to himself and the values he upheld, Tom Selman’s passion for the rehabilitation community left an enduring mark. His influence continues to inspire and guide professionals in the field today.

The IARP Texas Board is honored to award the Tom Selman Scholarship.
