The IALCP Symposium and IARP Conference are more than conferences.First, it is a time to connect.Particularly this year, following 2 years of distance learning conferences. We can see our colleagues, network and maybe even get a hug! I have found the networking events in the past to be a wonderful time to see old friends and make new connections.
Receptions are as follows:
- LCP Reception: Wed 6-7:30
- SSVE Reception: Thurs. 5:30-7
- Awards Reception: Friday 6:45-8 p.m
Additional Networking:
- Young Professionals Meet and Greet: Thursday 5:00 p.m. Acre Distilling Company
Second, we have an opportunity to give back.IARP has a long tradition of giivng back. I loved the Day of Service in 2010-2012 (New Orleans, Las Vegas and Puerto Rico). Knowing it goes much further back and loving the spirit of giving in our organization. There is always an opportunity for us to use conference time for good works!
This year the chosen IARP charity is dear to my heart. Debbie Civils and I have been friends since graduate school and IARP members (I hate to say it but over 30 years!). Her grandson had pediatric cancer and during the fight for his life, he saw a need to fundraise for pediatric cancer. He and his parents started an amazing organization Kids Join the Fight. The organization's story and video is so compelling.

Third, it is a time to learn.
There are so many wonderful sessions, often at conflicting times. I am grateful for the bundles as I want to purchase to hear the sessions I cannot attend. I love this option as some people cannot travel and it makes the conference an option for all to support the organization and learn.
The Early Bird Bundle Deadline is 10/18!
Thanks to our conference chairs, Carolina Salazar, Jacqueline Mendez, & Todd Harden and the conference committee for helping develop such a wonderful conference with so many tracks. By the way, Carolina and Jacqueline are Yo Pros, so good to see the next generation taking leadership in the organization!
Thanks to Julie Sawyer-Little as Education Chair, not just for this conference, but for helping provide excellent educational opportunities during the pandemic.
Presentation SpotlightIf you haven't checked out our keynote speaker, she promises to have a lively and informative kick off to the IARP portion of the conference. She brings humor to her presentations, which if anything we learned in the pandemic, we all need!
