  • 1.  TDIU Evaluations

    Posted 07-17-2023 15:36

    Hello all,

How would one find more information about TDIU vocational evaluations. I had a Veteran contact me yesterday and requested a evaluation indicating he found me on a TDIU vocational consultant listing. This is the 5th call I received in the past two months, I usually direct them to another firm but I am gaining interest. Thank you for your help in advance.

I have done hundreds of them. They are a lot of fun. I recommend you do them. What do you want to know?

Thank you, Kenneth, for your insight. I would like more insight on the process. Most of my referrals come from attorneys or work I do with government entities and not directly from a individual.

    Hi Jennifer:

I used to do TDIU reports, but now that I oversee Continental region for PCPG formerly Chapter 36 referrals, it presented a potential conflict for me.

TDIUs are a bit different in that generally speaking the veteran pays for the evaluation. I did receive referrals from attorneys but also individual veterans. It's best to talk with the attorney that is handling the TDIU case if there is one. VA medical records are voluminous and repetitive. If it's a good law firm handling the case, the medical records tend to better organized and if they are super good, they have bookmarks in the records. You are responsible for reviewing all records presented to you. There is specific verbiage to the VA, that you will need to use about ability to work. These cases involves a minimum of a telephone interview or you can do it via Zoom if you like.

I find the reports to be technical in nature but not much different than other evaluations (other than specific verbiage for VA policies). I enjoyed the work. The fees for these evaluations are lower than other forensic work. There have been several firms trying to locate experts to perform this type of work.
