Hi Jenn,
Salary.com 'somehow' gathers job names (not occupational titles) from around the country, creates a wage range type profile with mean and median wages statistics, etc, and then they make a location adjustment to whereever you are looking. So (a) 'when' these job postings occurred are not available - for all we know it has been a 10 year average of 1 single job posting, and the salary data could be 6 years old, (b) it does not use a standardized occupational classification system and "job names" are not standardized, (c) it gives nothing about the labor market in the area you look at - For example, I can find salaries of Oceanographers in ... Phoenix AZ - see screenshot I uploaded.

Good afternoon,
I am reviewing a vocational evaluation and the individual utilized salary.com to get the numbers for specific nursing positions. I understand that BLS does not particularly state nurse case managers and specify that field. I understand that as evaluators we utilize a number of reliable resources . My inquiry is how reliable is Salary.com? I have not utilized this site to indicate earning capacity, nor do I plan on doing so if I don't know their methodology. If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it.
