At the direction of the IARP Board of Directors and the Forensic Section Board, the Forensic 101 was developed and first offered in 2011. The Forensic 201 program followed. These programs are packed with information for the new (101) and more advanced (201) professional in mind. They were last offered at the 2011-2015 conferences. The programs were designed to be an ongoing IARP offering with new presenters updating and making the presentations their own. I am so very excited to see the programs return for a new group of professionals.
The Forensic 101 program presented by current Forensic Section Board members Liz Kattman; Deborah Hilby; and Tricia Oakes.
The 101 program is a comprehensive full-day training session for rehabilitation counselors who are interested in developing or reviewing the skills and best practices of the forensic expert. Instruction will include review of the qualifications to become a forensic expert, the varieties and processes of forensic rehabilitation cases, performing forensic vocational evaluations, preparing reports and testifying as expert witnesses in court litigation cases.
The 201 program finds Dr. Timothy Field, Julie Sawyer-Little and Mlchelle McBroom Weiss returning to provide new insight for those who are practicing in the field of forensics and are at an intermediate to advanced level.
We bring more than 75 years of experience in the field of forensic vocational rehabilitation and life care planning. Our experience will help explain Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and proposed changes that may impact your practice; Frye, Daubert, Kumho and Joiner; standardized methods; clinical judgement; and best business practices. The program is refreshed with updates and practical examples.
The 201 session will combine with the Forensic 101 and Forensic Board Members for an interactive lunch.
Please sign up for the conference. We hope to see you in person! If not, consider a post conference bundle of these pre-conference sessions.
I also plan to arrive early to see the cattle drive. "The Old West comes to life before your eyes during the world's only twice-daily cattle drive presented by the Fort Worth Herd. Real Texas cowhands drive a herd of Texas longhorns down East Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards National Historic District every day at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m."
Where else are you going to have this unique experience? For those interested https://www.fortworth.com/the-herd/.
