I will preface this with a couple of things. This is not political. Many of us are disappointed in election outcomes. some not. Many of us have marveled at how our VR/VE professions and this association has collectively sat on our hands with the changing administrations over the last couple (or for some of us, five) decades never seeming to much take political advantage of changing winds and how such might help or hurt our practices and missions. And also, I am about 99% retired now so maybe ought not to even care but cannot seem to shake it. i care about our profession, our clients, lost potential.
Q. If Government efficiency will be the thing..............
If "entitlements" will be the third rail at some point bravely or foolishly touched................
If IARP members who are CRC and or ABVE and maybe even (but not only SSVE) are probably the world's most phenomenal source of VR and VE knowledge, skills, experience..............
Might this time be THE PERFECT TIME, might the aspects be right, might the planets be aligned for us at this moment to maybe PROACTIVELY work to propose changes to The Social Security Disability program which would require actual Vocational Evaluations and actual (required participation in) private vocational rehabilitation? With that evaluation and, if found feasible, VR, provided by us? Not podunk ticket programs. Not state/fed programs.
All that plus privatization of state VR
"We can change the world, rearrange the world.............".
Would enjoy some discussion
Happy holidays
