    Greetings everyone!

I would like to take a moment to share with everyone our sessions on the CACREP Standards (and the upcoming revisions). I look forward to seeing the smiling faces of old and new friends in Fort Worth!

First up, Dr. Sonia Peterson is offering a presentation on the CACREP Standards.

    (402) Rehabilitation Counselor Education Programs: Updates on CACREP Standards 4:00 to 5:30 CST 10/21/2022
    Sonia Peterson

    Session Details

Rehabilitation counseling graduate programs have been accredited under the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) since 2017 when CORE merged with CACREP. This accreditation merger and the dissolution of CORE has had a major impact on Rehabilitation Counselor graduate programs across the country. A draft of the 2024 CACREP standards are now available, and CACREP is inviting feedback on the draft. The presenter will share information via power point and with handouts in order to facilitate a discussion so that participants learn to identify language that describes educational competencies in forensic vocational rehabilitation that should be incorporated into the 2024 CACREP standards. The facilitator will offer information via power point and verbally so that learners will be able to identify vocational rehabilitation competencies in relevant sections of the current CACREP standards. The facilitator will highlight concepts, and all participants will engage in discussion of the competencies and concepts in the current CACREP standards to identify areas that are in need of revision to more thoroughly integrate disability, vocational analysis, and vocational rehabilitation concepts into the standards. A handout with a checklist of concepts and competencies will be used to help participants identify terms and concepts and to facilitate discussion.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Participants will be able to identify language that describes educational competencies in forensic vocational rehabilitation
    • Participants will be able to examine the current draft of the 2024 CACREP standards to identify areas that are in need of revision to more thoroughly integrate disability, vocational analysis, and vocational rehabilitation concepts into the standards
    • Participants will be able to identify methods to communicate input on the 2024 CACREP standards revisions with the CACREP 2024 Standards Revision Committee.
    • Participants will be able to identify strategies to collaborate with rehabilitation counselor education programs in order to promote skills and leadership opportunities in private disability case management and forensic vocational rehabilitation for emerging professionals
