What: Two-day, experiential peer review rebuttal training for life care planners (working sessions using an actual plan or provided case study)
Who: Led by Dr. Tanya Rutherford-Owen and Dr. Mary Barros-Bailey, experienced life care planners and educators with over 50 years of combined life care planning experience
Format : Day 1 (9am-4pm) – Laying the groundwork
- Deepen understanding of life care planning tenets and the evolution of peer review literature.
- Identify common pitfalls in life care plans and build a personalized peer review framework and tools that reflect your own jurisdiction, referral sources, and practice setting, rather than adopting trainer materials, which may not align with your local or practice realities.
Day 2 (9am-4pm) – Putting theory into practice
- Apply advanced concepts directly to your own rebuttal or peer review process.
- Collaborate with peers, refine structure and reasoning, and receive targeted expert feedback on clarity, methodology, and evidentiary support.
Continuing education: Approved by ICHCC for 14 CEUs (including 3 hours in ethics) for CLCP/CCLCP certificants
Capacity: Enrollment capped at 12 participants on a first-come basis to preserve intensive, individualized learning.
Competencies you'll build:
- Conduct rigorous, methodologically sound peer reviews that elevate plan quality and withstand litigation scrutiny.
- Navigate ethical and jurisdictional issues with greater confidence, grounded in recognized standards and guidelines.
- Produce persuasive, evidence-based reports that enhance your credibility as a thought leader in life care planning.
