I wanted to provide a brief update on the merger of the NY Chapter with the New England Chapter. It is a process and we have been exploring and learning over the summer. Of course via the monthly Council of Presidents meetings as well as exchanges with National IARP, we are taking the steps one at a time. We are at a point of initiating the merging of the membership lists, dealing with the name change while trying to keep the current EIN number of New England. The name is likely to be the "Northeast Chapter", but that is not finalized. In the near future, I will be closing the NY IARP bank account and sending our balance to the New England Chapter. If anyone is up for renewal in the coming months, you would still join the NY Chapter until it is official, and until National eliminates the NY Chapter option on the website.
At the August New England Chapter meeting it was proposed by their president that I remain on their board as the Upstate representative, and Frank Lindner, NY's current Chapter Treasurer, as the Downstate representative. This is for the time being and until they reconfigure their board. At that time, the other current NY Chapter Board members would have the opportunity to join the new Northeast Board, to replace Frank and/or me.
