IARP Board of Directors
President Elect
Candidate: Rick Robinson

1. Describe your qualifications for the position.

Over my past 15 years of IARP membership, I have served the organization in multiple leadership roles and functions. My earliest involvement was as the Northeast Florida district president, after which I moved on to serve in multiple leadership roles at the Florida statewide chapter level to include Training and Education Chair, and as term as the IARP Florida Chapter president. I was next elected to the position of co-chair of the Forensic Section of IARP and for the past two years, I have served as the Forensic Section representative to the IARP International Board of Directors.

Academically, I have a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida, and an MBA from Regis University. I hold multiple national credentials such as Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Vocational Evaluator, and Certified Life Care Planner. I am board Certified as a National Certified Counselor, and as a Diplomate by the American Board of Vocational Experts. I am licensed in Florida as a Mental Health Counselor.

Professionally, I am the President of Robinson Work Rehabilitation, a vocational rehabilitation and life care planning firm in Jacksonville, FL. In this role, I provide both forensic and non-forensic rehabilitation services across a range of venues and service areas. I hold a faculty lecturer appointment at the University of Florida and serve as the lead instructor for the post graduate certificate training program in Forensic Vocational Rehabilitation.

2. What do you hope to accomplish during your term if elected?

First and foremost, in my role as president elect I will support the current president’s goals and board agenda that is squarely aimed at sustaining IARP’s position as the premier rehabilitation oriented professional association. I will engage in task oriented committee work that helps move the association toward this goal as well. I will also work to ensure a smooth and seamless transition between the current board leadership and my tenure as president of the association.

3. What is your vision for IARP during your term?

My vision over the first year as president elect is to support the current association leadership goals and vision to move toward one IARP branding campaign.

As I move into the presidency of the association, my vision is to continue to build toward IARP becoming the premier provider of rehabilitation oriented continuing education programming. I would like to see the organization move toward deployment of the most up to date educational content delivery models and systems, that are both content rich, and easy to access. My vision is to use these multiple channels of content delivery to evolve a library of educational content materials, and programming that becomes the gold standard source of post graduate rehabilitation education.

The current environment surrounding the education and credentialing of rehabilitation practitioners – in particular Rehabilitation Counseling, has never been more uncertain. I believe it is critical that IARP continue the good work of the immediate past president and the current president in forging, nurturing, and sustaining productive organizational relationships with allied rehabilitation associations, and legislative influencers. My vision is that IARP will not only play a key role in legislative and policy development in the future, but will be an agent for change that is beneficial to all key stakeholders. It is imperative that IARP play a key role in this change to ensure we advocate for the efficacy, and professional standards that appropriately credentialed rehabilitation professionals are ethically bound to uphold.
