Why join a Professional Organization?

People often ask why should I join a professional association and I can 't imagine a professional not being a member. Professional associations such as IARP (International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals) provide members with access to information on new developments in field, promote the profession, educational/CEU options, networking with peers, professional growth and development and give experienced and new professionals as well as students the opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of their field.
