Good afternoon section members. I hope you are all doing well and that business is good.
Last month I informed you all that the RDCM survey results were coming in steadily. The survey has ended and I have a few things to report. In case you are confused, there is a membership-wide survey that has been released and I encourage you to respond since it will allow you to comment on what you need from IARP as opposed to the RDCM Section Survey which was only concerned with your needs from our section.
Here are the highlights:
- RDCM is made up of professionals whose primary field of practice is (in order): worker's compensation, medical case management, vocational counseling, long term disability, and public rehab.
- RDCM section members have certifications not only in CRC, CDMS, CCM, and CLCP, but: COHN-S, CRRN, CECP, CMSP, RN-BC, CVE and others
- Training you would like to see include the following: ergonomics, current practice trends, hot jobs/employment trends, case management strategies, cultural issues in case management, overcoming psycho-social barriers, specific medical conditions and new treatments, etc. There were many more ideas.
- We found out that many of you are willing to serve on the RDCM Section Board and I want to let you know that we have 2 individuals who are running for open positions, and these individuals contacted me vs. being begged. lol
- Topic ideas for the Oct. 2018 conference, that would be meaningful enough to make you want to attend, included: job search related topics, new computer technology, case studies in disability management, ergonomics, methodology options and opinions, roundtable discussions, info on the new or upcoming ODIP, ceu's for brain injury certification, etc.
- And finally, a third of you stated you would be attending the 2018 annual conference in Charlotte, NC, half of you are undecided, and less than a fifth of you are not able to attend.
So, if you have read this far, I want to tell you that the RDCM board has digested this information and has a representative on the Conference Committee. We are really hoping to make some of your ideas a reality at the 2018 conference and turning others into webinars. We are also working on having some type of RDCM Section gathering at the conference, so stay tuned for more information.
If you would like to become more involved with the RDCM Section, please contact me. I'd love to tell you how you can help.
