  • 1.  work with long term disablity cases

    Posted 11-01-2015 09:08

In talking with a colleague, she had said that she has done some long-term disability cases and she had good experiences with those cases.  I am contacting the company that she was a preferred vendor for in the past, Liberty Mutual.  I have  contacted that company to see if I could be on their preferred vendor list, but wondering if others were doing work for these types of companies and knew which ones were willing to work with a  very small company as myself.  I have also contacted Zurich and Met Life and have not heard back from them yet. I have experience serving OWCP cases and also serving veterans in VA Vocational Rehabilitation. Thank you for  your assistance.

    Teresa,

From 1996-2014 I worked for two insurance companies, Metlife and The Hartford in LTD claims. I can give you general information about their vendor usage with the understanding this information is not current. In general, these companies have moved away from independent local vendors due to the burden of dealing with many vendors. They have progressed to using a preferred vendor system using perhaps 5-10 vendors who have national coverage or multi-state regional coverage. The way for a local independent vendor to access theses companies is to join with a national vendor through a subcontracting agreement. I hope this is clear. To try to state it simply, these companies would not consider a vendor contract with you as an independent provider covering the greater Dubuque, IA area. You could work out an agreement with a national voc rehab vendor to received subcontract work in your area.
