I have attached two documents for you all to absorb which I think are critical to our profession.
The first is a press release today from CORE about their merger with CACREP effective July 1, 2017.
The second was a letter from ACA and the AASCB (Amer Assoc of State Counseling Boards) to the Alabama counselor licensing board regarding the work of the 20/20: A Vision for the Future of Counseling group presenting their agenda for licensure SOP for all those in counseling and there being only one license - LPC.
As you may recall from my article in June 2013, there were many counseling organizations that were never even invited to the table to voice their opinions on the future of counseling. And as I noted then, one of the things I found very disturbing was the fact that of the 31 organizations that made up the 20/20 group, besides ACA and AASCB, 23 of them are divisions of ACA, one is an honor society, four are accrediting bodies including CRCC and CORE. Only NCRA was a separate professional association from ACA.
The Rehab Counseling Coalition (RCC) will be meeting in a few weeks and these actions will be a focus of conversation.
What say all of you? How do you see these statements/actions effecting you in your practice, effecting the profession?
Do you agree with the SOP presented by the 20/20 group?
Please make your voices heard.
