Jeremy is right in that VCU, and most accredited rehab programs, will require 1-2 job analyses site visits and provide guidelines and extensive discussion for same. there are CRCs (or former) who make an entire living doing these, and of course they tend to be more HR persons in safety, ergonomics, or DM programs. they are also commonplace in almost any ADA litigation involvling issue of "qualified" or reasonable accommodation.
my favorite book on the subject was and still is Roger Thrush's "ADA and Essential Functions Job Identification" It's a terrific programmed learning resource.
