I am trying to locate jobs that were open between May 2014 and January 2015 in the Murray KY area.  I have just spent a few hours trying to find out where/how I can located jobs that were advertised in that timeframe.  I've looked at Indeed, Monster and other less unknown sites.  Newspapers generally don't keep employment listings in their archives either.

Any ideas?  If not, does anyone live in the Murray, KY area who can contact me off line to give me some names of employers that are generally advertising all the time or at least every few months?

    Thanks

Do newspapers archive classifieds?  I have tried that and had no luck in the past.  Getting current openings isn't the issue as much as getting leads that were open several months ago.  I can try that again unless you know a secret? :0

How about the State Employment Agency?  Ours can factor in a date range of posted openings

The only time I had to look up expired ads that had expired I was working out of Washington and used the Washington Post. I was able to find these ads in the University of Virginia library in Charlottesville.. My suggestion is to call the newspaper in the town or city and ask them what they do. It looks like you may have to go to Kentucky and visit the reading room of the newspaper. They will probably have the newspapers on the old microfish system or other storage.

Thanks for all of the responses.  Rick, I will try that web address you sent. I have been able to find current openings for jobs that are high turnover occupations so a few calls to employers will help determine how often they hire.

    Thanks again all.

Sometimes they do. I checked the local paper where your person lives, and didn't see any way to do it, but it may be worth your calling the paper to find out. Also call the newspaper in the largest city/town near where the person lives.

I'd also suggest calling the state Employment office to ask where you can find archived jobs. They are at:

The Kentucky Career Center is a network of experts at locations across the Commonwealth.

If you need to find the closest office to your location please use our Office Locator tool.

You can also try one of the local VR agencies. Jill Brown

Barbara, the first place to try is the web site for Murray, Kentucky. If that does not work and the web site does not lead you to employers, contact the chamber of commerce and see if they have a list of employers. I have not done work in Murray. Most of my work has come out of fort Knox and the Elizabethtown area. Hope this is helpful. Gerry
