I am on a group to address Colorado DVR State Audit concerns around Comparable Benefits and Services. I am hoping that you can provide me with information around your state policy on this. Specifically these two things: (I thank you in advance for anything you can provide!)
1. Do you have policy / best practices regarding Comparable Benefits / Services and time frames for searching for those benefits/services? Do you establish time frames for specific Comparable Benefits before the agency pays for a service? (we are being tasked with revising policy on staff search for available comparable benefits and services that have been identified and included on the Individualized Plan for Employment within a targeted time frame.)
2. Does your policy have information / clarification around Comparable Benefits / Services and Informed Choice, Necessary, Appropriate and Least Possible Cost and the relationship these may have with each other? What happens if / or a client refuses a Comparable Benefit / Service? How is that documented?
