Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation is proposing to change the way both case managers and job placement specialists are paid. We are currently paid at an hourly rate (by the 10th of the hour), based on a set fee schedule. BWC is proposing to change this to a three step payment system similar to the "Ticket to Work" fiasco. They are proposing to pay us one fee when the case is referred, one fee when the client is placed on a job, and one fee when the client has remained at work for X number of days. They have not given us specifics on how exactly this will work, but they have made it clear that this is going to happen. IARP Ohio is totally against this and plans to present a position paper in opposition to this idea. My question is...have any other states used this type of payment program for case management or job placement? If so, what is your experience with it?
