    Hello Members:

It has come to the attention of IARP HQ that a bill has been introduced to the New Jersey State Assembly that proposes eliminating the licensure of rehabilitation counselors.

Bill A1539 is sponsored by John J. Burzichelli (D). It has been introduced to the Regulated Professions Committee, pending review by Legislative Counsel. Mr. Buzichelli is Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
The bill was submitted to the last session of the Assembly as Bill A4101.

I have attached a copy of Bill A1539. The proposal to unify counsel of licenses has direct implications for those counselors in New Jersey who received master's degrees in the 1970's  when curricula and graduation requirements did not include some of those required by this bill.

IARP HQ believes that this legislation is of interest to many members and will monitor the progress of this bill and keep the membership informed of developments.
