This message has been cross posted to the following Discussions: Case Management and Disability Management .
    -------------------------------------------

The IARP Rehabilitation and Disability Case Management section board (formerly the Case Management and the Disability Management sections) is looking for section members who have interest, knowledge, and/or contacts about services for veterans and their families.

Our preliminary research tells us that many IARP members provide vocational rehabilitation, counseling, case management and related support services to veterans with injuries or disabilities and their families.  Research also suggests that need for case management and return to work services for disabled veterans is growing.

Our section board would like to provide more targeted benefits to IARP members who work with veterans, such as resource information, networking opportunities, and rehabilitation supports...and we need your input!

If you are interested in working on an Ad-Hoc Planning Group for IARP members who work with Veterans, please get in touch with me.  Contact me either on this discussion list or privately.

The American Red Cross provides a wealth of services to veterans.  I volunteer for The Red Cross and really believe what they have to offer is very under-utilized.  There are some courses that are being offered for returning soldiers and throughout the course vocational implications are addressed.  It's called the "Reconnection Series" (underwritten by WalMart).  Of course Military One Source is a good stopping point to gather information as well.  I find the resources vary greatly from state- to - state (I've taught classes in several states and we always gather local resource material for the class) and it's always a challenge to package it all specific to the geographic area we are delivering services.

Another tremendous effort underway in most states now is the Military Life Consultant Program (kind of wrap around service)- it's absolutely unbelievable what they can offer.  Here is a link  to a summary of what that program is about.  https://www.mhngs.com/app/resourcesfor/MFLC_Brochure.pdf

    Hope some of this helps!
