Nearly 6 years ago, a former graduate student contacted me after leaving academe to enter the insurance rehabilitation industry. His question was to ask, what do I need to do professionally? Without hesitation, I recommended he join IARP and become involved at his state level. He did, and it was not long before I was invited to join a new group of IARP CM members charged by the IARP Board of Directors to formalize the Case Management Section by creating a Board of Directors and developing the Section's Policy and Procedures.
Having now completed multiple-consecutive terms of serving on the CM Board, I am seeking to fill my former position for one last time. My interest in serving is based on a decision by the IARP Board of Directors to combine both sections in the elections next year in 2013. Currently both the CM and DM boards are working on this consolidation. The CM and DM boards have been committed to strengthening both sections through increasing section benefits, professional development opportunities, and resources to IARP members.
I would like to continue my work with the CM Board as they work closely with the DM Board as they deliberate how to better serve both sections while recognizing each section's similarities and differences.
