Describe your qualifications for the position:

I have served on IARP’s RDCM section board for the past two years taking on a myriad of membership duties along the way.  Serving as the RDCM’s secretary for the past two years has enabled me to gain a diplomatic understanding of differing ideas and contributions members have of the RDCM section and I believe I can make a positive contribution to the section.

What do you hope to accomplish during your term if elected?

If elected, I intend to assist the RDCM section become appealing to professional members and students alike.  I will continue making the monthly teleconference minutes public documents to illuminate the exciting projects that RDCM members are working hard on.

What is your vision for IARP during your term?

If elected, within this next term I would like to assist IARP and the RDCM section with helping bridge the gap from student members to professional members.  I’d love to see how students can become more involved with the RDCM board as students fulfill a sizable amount of total RDCM members.

Board Member At Large: Janice Ray

Describe your qualifications for the position:

I graduated from University of Waterloo in 1976, Co-op Kinesiology and bring to the IARP RDCM Board of Directors 40 years of experience as a practicing Kinesiologist and VR Professional.  I achieved accreditation as a Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) in 1992, Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) in 2007 and a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) in July 2010.  As the Registrar of the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals, I have had the opportunity to participate in the development of a strong self-regulatory body for those Canadians who practice in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation, Vocational Evaluation, Disability Management and Life Care Planning.  Kinesiology has given me a good career in Vocational Rehabilitation and one I have thoroughly enjoyed over the years. I have been a volunteer Board Director with the VRA Board of Directors from 1995 to 2010, when I assumed the role of Registrar for CVRP, and with the Ontario Kinesiology Association since 2000.

The benefit that I bring to RDCM division of IARP is my knowledge of Board operations, my expertise in the education pre-requisite and regulation of the Canadian VR industry.

What do you hope to accomplish during your term if elected?

I look forward to developing future contacts with stakeholders and various levels of government in the quest for recognition of the profession of Vocational Rehabilitation in Canada here and across our borders to our US counterparts.  I look forward to working with the IARP professionals in common VR and educational endeavor.  I hope to be able to share my knowledge and experience of IARP with my Canadian peers to foster a good relationship between IARP and the College.

What is your vision for IARP during your term?

Through my involvement with the RDCM division of IARP, I hope that there will be an opportunity to foster and develop a professional membership category in IARP for those professionals presently certified through the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals, to provide access to international peer contact and international educational experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation. I feel that it is important to constantly expand one’s personal and professional experience, not only within our own environment nationally but in the international milieu. I look forward to working with my international peers on our common VR goals.
