PARP Lunch & Learn – No Charity: Paychecks not Pity
The Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (PARP), the PA Chapter of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP), is pleased to announce their upcoming initial “Lunch & Learn” webinar scheduled for Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Description
Our initial Lunch & Learn topic will be involved with Disability Advocacy and enabling disabled individuals to enter the competitive work force in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our presenter will be Dr. Josie Badger. The title of Josie’s presentation is From Paper to Policy: How the “# I Want to Work Campaign” is Changing the Outcomes.
Learning Objectives
Attendees will learn the following from Dr. Badger’s presentation:
- Understand more about the #IWantToWork campaign, how it works, and the way social media has influenced legislation.
- Discuss previous and current legislation that the campaign has worked on.
- Explore ways to share individual stories to make a change.
- Discuss advocating without lobbying, the important relationships that professionals and people with disabilities develop with their legislators.
Credits
Current IARP/PARP members will be provided 1.0 CEU free of charge but do need to pre-register so we have an approximate count. 1.0 CEU’s for this educational Zoom virtual event are pending approval from CRC, CDMS, ABVE, and CCM.
