"Introduction to Mental Health First Aid"

Most of us know how to respond in a medical emergency-call 911 or administer CPR. But, too few of us know how to respond if we saw someone having a panic attack or were concerned a loved one was suicidal. Mental Health First Aid teaches individuals how to recognize signs of developing mental illness and respond appropriately.

First developed in Australia in 2001, Mental Health First Aid is now an internationally recognized program. Peer-reviewed studies have shown the program's effectiveness at improving the assistor's confidence and ability to respond appropriately. More than 780,000 people across the United States have been trained in Mental Health First Aid by a dedicated base of more than 11,200 instructors.

Certified Mental Health First Aid instructor, Nicole Morris, QMHP, MA, LPC, will address the importance of Mental Health First Aid, how to model stigma reducing actions, and show you a simple action plan that can help you address a developing mental health issue.
