An Introduction to Transition Services

The hour-long presentation will provide a brief introduction to Transition Services. The importance of helping students with disabilities transition from School to life as an Adult is much more than just finding them a job after high school. The focus will be on the types of services that can be provided, areas of potential growth, sources of referrals, and potential areas of funding.

Presenter: Bruce Bloom, M Ed, CRC, CAS, IPEC

Professional Biography: Bruce Bloom, M Ed, CRC, CAS, IPEC is a Vocational Expert and the Chief Operating Officer of Bloom Consulting located in Austin, Texas.   Bruce earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from The State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from The University of Texas at Austin. Bruce has worked as a human resource generalist, and an operations manager for several fortune 500 companies.   After Graduation from The University of Texas, he started his own Vocational Consulting Company in Austin, Texas focusing on vocational evaluations, educational consultations and programing for transition aged students. Currently Bruce consults with attorneys as a Vocational Expert regarding pre-and post-injury earning capacity in legal disputes and performs independent educational evaluations on transition aged students for attorneys, advocates and school districts all over the United States. Bruce sits on the board of Advisors for the Texas Workforce Commission Developmental Disability Taskforce and is currently serving as the chair of IARPs Vocational Rehabilitation Transition Services board.
