Bernhard Zünkeler, M.D. is a board-certified neurosurgeon in Baltimore, Maryland who participates in the maintenance of certification (MOC) of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Zünkeler has an interest in evaluating patients after moderate-to-severe spinal cord and brain injury (including those with catastrophic injuries) and in analyzing the associated health care costs and needs, in particular, the long-term care and life-care planning needs of affected individuals. Additional areas of interest are the indications, evidence-basis, outcomes, complications, and standard of care in spinal surgery (with or without spinal instrumentation) performed by neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons. Dr. Zünkeler is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons, a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the German Neurosurgical Society.
