IARP CONNECT Code of Conduct

  • 1.  LCP in Family Law

    Hi all....wondering if the collective have seen life care plans used in family law say in the situation where a couple are divorcing and one party has a lot of medical involvement.  Have folks seen a LCP used to establish what those future medical expenses would be?  Any and all help is very much appreciated.

    I have done them - sometimes it is the spouse others have been on children with disabilities.

    Absolutely, Katherine. So long as there is a documented need, it can certainly be claimed in a LCP. I have done this many times.

    Agree with other posters. Have done this as well, especially if there is a child or children with disabilities involved.

    Thanks to all who have responded - much appreciated.  I haven't done a LCP in the case of a marriage dissolution (in this case one of the parties not a child), but don't see why one wouldn't be warranted given that there will be ongoing medical needs.  So this is super helpful - the attorney has not heard of LCPs so it's a bit of an educational process and I just wanted to get the pulse of this group to reference.  And you've done that for me!
