2017 CRCC Code of Ethics: Updates & Changes
CRCC released a draft revised Code of Professional Ethics for Rehabilitation Counselors
(Code) for public comment. The Code is a living document revised periodically based on
changes in the profession. The Ethics Committee initiated the revision process in 2013
with a review of issues identified by the Committee during complaint adjudication and
review of requests for advisory opinions. This information was supplemented with a
survey asking CRCs to describe ethical challenges faced in the recent past and to project
ethically troubling issues to come in the future.
This presentation will review the input received from a review of the research, examination of recent changes in related professional codes of ethics, and discussions of the taskforce. The presentation will also focus on the major updates and changes made to the 2017 version of the Code.
