What could be better than New Orleans in spring?  What about springtime in New Orleans with a music festival in the French Quarter – that’s free?  Even better, what about getting 12 hours of CEU’s on the same trip?  IARP – Louisiana invites you to our annual seminar, scheduled for April 6 - 7, 2017.  Our keynote speaker will be Tim Field, who will discuss the state of rehabilitation.  A two hour ethics session will be led by Drs. Erin Dugan and Krystal M. Vaughn of the Department of Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at LSU.  Dr. Maryellen Romero, neuropsychologist at Tulane Medical Center will discuss Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and how it impacts case management, counseling and vocational services.  Two attorneys, one representing injured workers in worker’s compensation cases, and another attorney representing employers, will each discuss how to prepare to be an expert witness.  There will be vocational testimony in mock court sessions for both state worker’s compensation and the Longshore Act.  Dr. Jill Hayes, a forensic neuropsychologist will address the neurophysiology of traumatic brain injury.  Spine surgeon, Dr. K. Samer Shamieh will discuss the rationale for differing surgical procedures and their costs.  And last but not least, rehabilitation counselor and US Army Major Scott Landry will present the effect of military experience on evaluation and placement outcomes.  After 1 ½ days of continuing education, then head to the French Quarter Festival (www.fqfi.org), the largest free musical event in the United States.  The French Quarter Festival is an annual celebration that will feature 1,700 musicians playing 400 hours of free, local music from a variety of musical genres on 23 stages throughout the French Quarter.  Some of the musicians include Aaron Neville, John Boutte, Rockin’ Dopsie and the Zydeco Twisters, as well as Astral Project.  The seminar will be held at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, an easy commuting distance from the Festival.  Come join us – and let the good times roll!     IARP-LA_Annual_Conference_Registration_2017.pdf
